Another pre-E3 announcement for the PSP. Ignition Enterntainment have announced a sequel to the equally innovative and frustrating Mercury: the memorably monickered Mercury Meltdown.Featuring a new cel-shaded graphical style, 160 new levels, party- and mini- games and more 1-on-1 wireless goodness. Certainly a contender for the next alone-on-the-bus game.
It also appears that the release date for Syphon Filter has slipped. Amazon and Play are both reporting the delivery date as June 30 now.
I need to look at Mercury again and get past the shifting sands level.
ReplyDeleteWhat do you think of the new cel-shaded look? It almost seems to go against the realistic look that Mercury was obviously striving for at the time. Perhaps a combination of a more self-assured product and a backlash against attempted realism in handheld games?
ReplyDeleteI thought the whole point of Mercury was that it looked amazingly like a bit of mercury. I've never been a big fan of cel shading, so this would put me off.
ReplyDeleteI hope that they sort out the difficulty curve on this one, the first went from coo, isn't it clever? through isn't this fun to gah fuggit can't get any further in about three levels.

ReplyDeleteRidiculous, the whole thing is utterly preposterous. How can one have a mercury meltdown? The melting point and freezing point of mercury is 234 kelvins which is about −38°C. Video games are just totally pointless.
