It had to happen, eventually.
It's been such a strong year for videogames. Let's have a little reminisce about the best parts, and then a nomination for GotY at the end of your post.

Such a great year.
Highlights for me were:
Bioshock (I played it this year, so I'm keeping it in my shortlist. A great story with some brilliant technical touches. I'll never forget Fort Frolic as long as live.)
Braid (Like Portal, it'll change your outlook on gaming. Still too many of you haven't played this. No excuses, treat yourself for Xmas.)
GTA IV (Sprawling, amazing tech, good story, the most immersive GTA to date, a bit serious, and the music didn't do it for me, but still a great game.)
Mass Effect (Another 07 game I didn't get round to playing until this year. A grand sci-fi world with a good pacey plot and some nice character customisation. Can't wait for the sequel.)
Mercs 2 (Surprise highlight for me. Buggy as an NHS hospital canteen, but gloriously and uproariously violent and pointless. A definite replay for me one day.)
Burnout Paradise (My most played and most complete game. The ugly duckling demo grew up into a fine and generous fully fledged title. I've had some great laughs playing BP this year. A social experience as much as a racing game.)
Fable II (Beautiful, if a little linear. The sandbox wasn't deep enough to involve me but the plot ticked along nicely and the Good v. Evil choices were nicely realised.)
Left 4 Dead (To my shame I've not played enough of this recently. So tense I wake up the next day with leg cramps and my tongue is ragged from chewing it. Excuse me while I headshot you, then lock you out of the saferoom.)
Fallout 3 (A desolate and intimidatingly sprawling and uncaring environment. I have no idea where this game is going, but I'm loving the journey. I suspect if I'd played the finale this would've cinched my #1 spot, but I'm still a long way off.)
Little Big Planet (I have so much affection for this game. It's the perfect antidote to F3 and L4D. The gameplay is almost perfect and full of laughs and wonderful touches. Then they give you the toolbox as well.)
I'm going to reserve judgement on my Top Of The Pops for a while. It's probably a toss-up between Burnout Paradise, LBP and Braid at the moment.
This year I think my top games were:
Fable 2 A beautiful game that rewards you for playing and has a very open feel to it
Geometry Wars 2 Total Hi Def Eye candy -- different play modes, an improved version of the original, multiplayer modes and a better use of the DS versions multipliers. Awesome, I played this to death, and yet still cant break that million on King.
Little Big Planet Superb fun, worth the price of admission alone. The tutorials alone take ages to get through, the tools are very clever, the humour s bang on and it's the perfect sandbox game. The Collector levels are a bitch.
The Year's BIG LETDOWN PSP. the console that started all this has really taken its foot off the pedal. What a fucking waste. My only recourse is standing under the billboard in playstation Home bad mouthing the console like a street preacher. I usually get applause or LOLs.
This is a tough one and no mistake!
I would have to put Burnout, Left for Dead and CoD4 (last years game but continues to get loads of play) as the online contenders.
Gears of War 2, Rainbow 6 Vegas 2 and LBP should get honourable mentions. The latter purely on its massive innovations, and deserves more time than I have been able to give it recently.
Surprise of the year: Star Wars: The Force Unleashed. Rubbish demo, tons of fun to play with.
There was no "Bioshock" for me this year (A game so breath taking last year, that I ignored all others for GOTY), but the general quality of the games has been very high indeed.
Even the same old same old IP's like Tomb Raider are of a high quality, and would probably be in here if I had played it more.
Am sure I will post again later when I think of more!!!
