All I want for Christmas is XVID,DIVX playback. Not a lot to ask, after all, it's not as if they're selling any decent movies or TV Shows on XBL in Europe.
Hmm, I see MS allowing xvid and divx playback sometime shortly after hell freezes over. Their wider business outside consoles practically relies on licensing to exist, and I really can't see them flashing a green light to every punk who wants to download episodes of Will and Grace, or whatever, to a USB stick to watch illegally.
I know it's counter to their IPTV plans, but if they're going to rule out media sharing, why allow ANY media sharing at all? After all transcoding (either by batch or on the fly) is not really that onerous a task.
If I was at MS I wouldn't want to be losing to the PS3 in the no-fuss media hub stakes.

ReplyDeleteIsn't it the Autumn update, anyway?
One can hope.
