Demos Up

Just a really quick heads-up that there are XBL demos for Mirrors Edge, Tomb Raider - Underworld and Banjo Kazooie up right now. They're all exactly what you saw at EGExpo if you were there, but well worth a play in the comfort of your own home without half a dozen people snorting at your ineptitude behind your back.

All three are very very playable, and ME and TR have made my Kaboodle Xmas list. Still not 100% sold on BK, but it's very reminisicent of the N64 classic so it might well get added at some point.

The problem I always have when I'm cracking into a new game is that any time I might spend playing demos is unfortunately gobbled up. In this case Fallout 3 consumes all.

Would like a bit more time with Mirror's Edge than we got at the Expo, though, especially as the Live demo is supposed to be a smidgen longer.

I always look at demos as a bite size treat, compared to the banquet of a full game.

Having three at once basically consumed a couple of hours on Sunday afternoon, a time when I don't usually get to play and wouldn't want to put on anything I'd particularly want to pay attention to, due to the obvious distractions of playing whilst the girls are awake.

Mirrors Edge demo includes a nicely built training ground, but otherwise the actual parcel-carrying-oops-I'm-being-shot-miss-that-red-pipe-and-fall-100s-of-feet level is exactly the same as the Expo.

There is, apparently, an unlock code being given away as prizes on at least one website that gives you more play area. I would expect that this will be unlocked for everyone at some point in the future.

Having always had a downer on Lara and her unsuitably attired archaeology I was surprised at how much fun I found this demo. I don't know whether the whole game entails entertaining climbing puzzles and GIANT tiger slaying, but I could definitely get into this.

BJK was bewildering at first. It's so colourful and there's about a million different elements to take in in the first 30 seconds, but I get the feeling that it doesn't matter particularly.

And Left 4 Dead demo out on Tuesday 11th, with online co-op and survivor modes.

Sweet!
