They're probably saving 100% backward-compatibility as a carrot to dangle to encourage users to upgrade when their first firmware gets royally hax0red.
interesting this one. Major Nelson (the 360 podcaster) spoke about problems with backwards compatibility that the 360 has had.
This was a result of developers accessing all sorts of memory addresses that a virtual console does not have (or something like that!).
He guessed about a year or so ago that this would cause sony problems, but thought it would be on more recent games that attempt to squeeze out of the console.
Am sure they will sort this out, and if not, frmo a 360 point of view, I have never bothered loading the older games up.
I had a brief discussion about this with a non-gaming workmate who said he didn't think it would matter to people.
I was thinking along the lines of the PS2 owners who, having spent upwards of £500 for their shiny new box, might not have much sponds for new PS3 games and would make do with playing their older games on the new system.
