GTA IV Episodic content only on 360

Gameindustry.biz have word from Take Two that episodic content for the upcoming GTA IV will be exclusive to the XBOX 360:

"The Grand Theft Auto IV episodic content is exclusive to Xbox 360."

And are you wondering how MS managed this? From the Take Two 2Q07 Earnings Call Transcript:
Evan Wilson - Pacific Crest Securities

Thank you. And as it relates to the deferred revenue chunk associated with the episodic content on X-Box 360, you can see that $25 million of that moved into short-term deferred. Could you give us any sense of when that’s going to hit the P&L? Will we see $25 million at one time and then the second 25 or will it be a slow bleed?

That's some pretty heavy tactics in the next gen console war right there.

Unintentional, but when I read the final post in full the redundancy of the first quote made me LOL, so I didn't edit it out.

Nice article here, not totally off topic, that explains the Wii's successes due to its controller.

Technology Review | The Nintendo Wii

The opening paragraph is interesting:

"Initially discounted by game-industry watchers as graphically underpowered compared with the Sony PlayStation 3 and Microsoft Xbox 360, the Nintendo Wii has wiped the sales floor with its competitors. In February 2007, 335,000 Wiis were sold in the U.S., versus 228,000 Xbox 360s and 127,000 PS3s. Behind the Wii's success is its unique controller: simple and wireless, it responds to your movements in a natural manner, turning into a baseball bat, a sword, or a hand, as necessary. It is, in a word, fun."

Poor old PS3, no DL content for H3, no innovative controller, no nicely written Tech review articles.

Still not convinced it's time to start shovelling the dirt into the pit though.

Nor am I yet convinced that the Wii isn't going to go all Dreamcast on us.

I think they have sold too many machines for it to do a Dreamcast, and sure, the games out so far aren't all winners, but they came out with a Zelda already and the 2nd gen stuff will surely be out soon. Plus, articles like this is what gets the console into the hearts and minds of the mainstream punter, and the developers will follow closely.

Sick of waiting for the other thing, hand me that fkn shovel.

Today: Ozy puts the boot into PS3. Ok - he's not exactly unbiased.

And: Take Two firmly get behind Wii and DS.

Perhaps they could do a game where the wiimote is a shovel...

I know someone who offered me his US PS3 for £200.

Still a bit early for that.

Maybe a Fi Club joint purchase? ;-)
