Mine was supposed to be available to collect from my local indie yesterday evening, but his dad had to go to hospital (boo hoo!)

So instead I'll be picking it up and firing it in tonight. Unless this is all some ruse to cover his own ass because he hasn't got the game, in which case I'll pop into town and get one.

Unless they have all run out, and my planned weekend away playing solid GTA IV is thrown into jeapordy, in which case I will kill him and bury him under his DVD boxes.

LOL Damn his Dad!
(I hope he's alright, not that I know him)

First impressions...Very Good.

I coming at this game unblinkered.

I've never played a GTA game! (apart from the PSP multi-player games).
I know, I know..."Call yourself a gamer?"
It's great fun and there's been several moments when I've laughed out load (although I'm prone to doing this anyway for no reason, sometimes).
The story is quite interesting and the script and language are believable.
The driving took a bit of getting used to, after playing so much Burnout Paradise, but is fun all the same.

That will do for now, I need to get back to the game...

Well I played for about 4 hours, and only did 3 missions, and probably only really checked out half of the first island in rough.

It feels so incredibly detailed.

Very cool, very GTA. The characters are all good and much more likeable than CJ and co.

My bests so far:

Best radio Station: Vladivostok
Best song: Dominion
Best car: Voodoo
Best act at Perestroika... hmmmm

Looks like the R* Social Club has crumbled under the weight.

Some more thoughts:

The 'free roaming inside buildings' so far patently isn't true, but then a million empty buildings isn't going to add anything to the game. I'm actually glad I don't have to think about that. Like I said though, I've only searched half of the available island, and that not very thoroughly.

Melee is obviously enhanced, but seems wooly so far. I only just realised you can lock-on in melee combat. I hadn't really got the hang of the dodge and riposte moves.

Thunderstorms! They greatly enhance any police chase.

It's great fun and looks superb, the detail is staggering. I spent ages watching TV and surfing the web already. The TV show about the rich and famous is full of spit your coffee funnies.

It looks and feels great, very GTA. I like Nico, he's a badass but he's fairly nice with it. Little Jacob is lots of fun to hang with. I love how in one of the upmarket cars, the sat nav talks you through the route in an english accent, and at one point she actually said "bing bong" before telling me the next direction!

I miss the power ups -- eating doesn't make you fat, no working out, no skill increases. The sex is fun though.

Well, did my second 4 hour session last night, and really starting to get a feel for the driving - which I enjoyed, despite the difficulty, from the get-go.

Completely by accident drove around in a 'Coquette' on the first night, with 'Dominion' hammering away on the stereo... this is exactly what I do in real life in my Ford C-Max, so was strangely comforted by it all.

Last night though found some pounding little two seater numbers, and had a go at the drive-shooting, and have been going through the missions at a steady pace in order to kind of get some of the games 'features' revealed to me - I'll leave you to discover that kind of stuff for yourself.

Absolutely in love with it, to be honest, and will be up for friday MP from tomorrow afternoon through.. well... through til Sunday.

Due to circumstances beyond my control I've still not got beyond those initial 4 hours. I don't even have a gun, just a knife I found in an alleyway.

Up for MP Friday night fo sho, but I think tonight I want to progress some missions a bit and get a feel for it.

We're on 3-hourly feedings though at the moment, so MP might be a bit piecemeal, we'll see how it goes tomorrow.

Anyone around for it tonight? Friday 16th? Remote IV with me and some Eurogamers?
